“Regarding Ephesians 1:11, the word rendered “worketh” means to be active, to produce (Gal. 2:8; Phil. 2:13). The same God which “worketh” all in all (1 Cor. 12:6), works also in causing the emotions of our hearts. “God, who worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure” (Phil. 2:13). He has the agency in distributing to people their various spiritual gifts and blessings; “All these worketh that one and the self-same Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will” (1 Cor. 12:11). The work of God is seen everywhere. Every leaf, flower, rose-bud, spire of grass; every sun-beam, and every flash of lightning; every cataract and every torrent, all declare His work and personal touch. It is this touch of His hand in the scheme of things that demonstrates His greatness. He concerns Himself with the “little things” of life that involve His children. He shows Himself great in working all things according to His perfect and unfathomable will. What joy to see His presence and purpose in our lives.” DEM
