Going To The Doctor By Mrs. Barbara McCain When you take off your sparring equipment and change out of your uniform, do you leave your TKD in the dojang? Do you just think the tenets of TKD when you are in class? We hope not, because TKD can be part of your life everyday. The principles you learn there can help you meet many situations with confidence rather than fear, calmness instead of dread. Almost every child will have to go to the doctor this year. Maybe some of you are even a little afraid of the man in the white coat. Claim the tenets of self-control and indomitable spirit and walk right into the doctor's office. The doctor is a person that is there to help you. Even if it hurts, we know that what the doctor is doing is for our best interests. He wants you to be well. A true TKD student will not throw a fit or fight with the doctor, but with full self-control, trust him and cooperate with him. When fear starts to rise up inside, with indomitable spirit, face it and be a good student. The lessons we learn from our man in the white uniform (our instructor) will help us to be better in class and in life. We can never be successful in class if we resist or fight against our instructor. If we are to be strong in our techniques, we must not be afraid to try. We must have a healthy body to be strong in TKD. Next time you go the doctor, don't forget your TKD and remember to say, "Thank you, sir or ma'am" because the doctor is there to help you.
